Edmont celebrate the successes of a challenging year
Like most retail fit-out contractors, at Edmont we have had our share of challenges to navigate throughout the pandemic. Having specialised in travel retail for many years, the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the travel industry was the catalyst for a full review of our business model and strategy. The key outcome was to focus on new sectors, particularly healthcare, education and office fit-out, working with some long standing clients who had moved into different areas and bringing new clients on board along the way. Fortunately, our multi-skilled and experienced team had the capability to adapt quickly to these new sectors.
Critical COVID hospital works
We have a long-standing partnership with Great Western NHS Trust which allowed us to mobilise quickly to carry out critical COVID-specific works at Great Western Hospital at the height of the pandemic. These included the installation of glazed isolation cubicles within the A&E department and other projects. We are proud of the way our hospital fit-out team were able to deliver high-quality fit-out in such a sensitive environment while adhering to COVID-19 safety guidelines and were able to play a small role in supporting the NHS at such a critical time.
New clients for joinery and M&E
Our joinery division has acquired a number of high profile interiors clients during the past year, supplying contemporary bespoke joinery for a number of high-end residential and office fit-out projects in central London. With some clients utilising office closures to update or upgrade their facilities, this type of work has been central to Edmont’s business over the past year. During this time, our M&E division has continued to expand their client base, securing a valuable framework contractor position with a leading retail outlet centre.
Exciting projects for existing clients
As a result of the development of relationships with our existing clients, we have some exciting projects underway in 2021, including a brand new pub and restaurant as well as a residential development project for the University of Oxford.
Looking back over the past year, Craig Morton, Managing Director at Edmont, said “Despite the challenges our industry has faced, Edmont are proud to celebrate some genuine successes this year. The works we have done in the healthcare sector assisting with COVID safety installations, the new enquiries we’ve received and new projects we have won are all testament to Edmont’s ability to react and adapt. We are proud of the way in which we’ve re-focused our business strategy and marketing in order to capitalise on growing markets while continuing to build on the strong relationships we have with existing clients. While works at UK airports have been mainly on hold throughout 2020/2021, we are poised and ready to assist our travel retail clients as soon as things open up again.”
Melanie Fyans, Joinery Director at Edmont, commented, “It has been a challenging year but we have gained some exciting new clients and delivered some fantastic projects with excellent feedback. We are in a strong position to continue to continue building the business as the country emerges from the pandemic and starts to open up.”
